On-Page SEO is one of the factors that are used to optimize your site for search engines. When SEO is implemented effectively, it will lend your site in a right path to rank higher in the search engines. Keywords are the most fundaments elements of on-page SEO, it always recommended to start from Keywords before moving on to further topics. If you are going to start your new blog, then try to implement these factors from your very first post.
If you have mastered your keyword searching abilities, then On-Page SEO will be a piece of cake to you.
What is On-Page SEO and how to do it?
To be frank, On-page optimization is nothing but a set of instructions or factors that have to be included in your SEO checklist whenever you publish a new post.
On-Page and Off-Page SEO
It is also necessary to understand the difference between various factors in SEO.
On-Page: It is the method of optimizing your website and web pages in order to increase your site ranking in search engines. Simply, On-Page deals with the internal parts of your site.
Off-Page: It is the method to improve your site’s authority to gain better search engine ranking. Off-Page SEO is basically calculated using the number of backlinks and outbound links realized in your site.
Using an optimized title tag will increase the click through rate drastically. Titles are the first element of your blog that is visible to your target audience. Since tweaking the title is so simple, ignoring this factor is like dragging down your rank yourself intentionally.
Ensure that you have included your focus keyword in the title. Adding the keyword in the 33 or 5th word of your title will have a great impact on your SEO. Ensure that your titles are enclosed within <H1> tags.
Read this article to know more about tweaking titles:
Like titles, keywords should be placed in the URL also. Always try to make your URL short. According to Google, the first three letter of the URL will be given more weight. It is always good to add the focus keyword in the beginning of the URL.There are two types of URL’s: a bad and a good one.
A URL is said to be a bad one if it is accused of keyword stuffing (unusual injection keywords).
Examples of URL:
Contents are the king for any website. However, titles are the ones that attract the visitors, Content plays the main role in holding the visitors for a long time on your page. Dwell time is one of the factors that play a vital role in evaluating your site ranking. It is nothing but a time spent by a user on your web page and not the website (ranking is calculated separately for each web page according to Google Panda).
Always make sure that you have included your focus keyword in the first 100 words of your content for the better results.
Try to provide lengthy contents. It will increase the dwell time. If the dwell time is less, then your web page is considered to be of low quality by Google Panda. Also, provide High-Quality Contents for your readers and add values to your post, this will increase your authority towards your readers. Writing articles of 1000+ words will have a good impact in your On-Site (On-Page) SEO.
Include keywords in at-least one of the sub-heading and also wrap all the sub headings with <H2> tags.
The next factor to be included in your On-Site SEO checklist is multimedia elements. Texts will only engage your readers for certain time, adding appropriate image will increase your site time and reduce the bounce rate. Infographics will be the best match for blog posts, it is always recommended to add infographics to your site.
The Title and ALT text should be loaded with focus keywords for better On-Page SEO results. Try to give more prefernece to multimedia elements like images and vedios than plain texts.
As explained earlier, Keywords are the fundamental concept of On-Page SEO. Excess usage of keywords may lead you to keyword stuffing which will have a negative impact on your ranking. In such cases, make use of LSI keywords (synonyms of the actual keyword).
The actual keyword of this article is “On-Page SEO”, but to avoid keyword stuffing, I have used LSI “On-Site SEO” and similar words all over my post. It is better to use LSI keywords than the actual focus keyword.
Complete details and usage of the keywords are explained in my other post on Keywords and its importance.
However links play a vital role in Off-Page SEO, it also has a similar effect in On-Page also. Always try to add 3 to 5 internal link and 2 to 4 external links to your blog posts. Instead of adding links directly to your post, always try to use anchor text. Make sure that your anchor text is some what related to the page you are linking.
The design is nothing but the template or theme you use in your blog. A design is responsible for site speed (load time). Google has also stated that load time is also included in the ranking mechanism. You are likely to miss one of your readers if load time is more than 4 seconds. Not only load time, even if the site is not mobile friendly it will have the impact during the ranking calculation process of SEO.
